Examples for civic involvement |
|
:: polski, :: deutsch, :: English
Lately, we became many requests from Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, UK and other countries, and you asked about specific examples for civic involvement in Poland. Here you can read a short version of Ben Franklin’s opinion. He became a member of a civic movement that is active long before the official election campaigns in Poland start.
At the same time, I would like to invite you to present other actions from your countries. I encourage you to criticize positively these examples and to be a part of civic involvement. We create our reality, the political one as well. If media seem to be tendentially and biased, we can talk together, with or without them.
With a great attention, I joined to a social initiative „We will do everything what is possible to prevent PiS’s raise of power for the second time“ (Polish: „Zrobimy wszystko, aby PiS nie wrócił już do władzy”). This action is growing in the social network Facebook. Why? Lately, I have the impression that there is a strong group of media creators in Poland that intend to force us to forget about the trauma of the years 2005-2007. At that time, the coalition of PiS, LPR and Samoobrona was ruling. You see clearly that some matters will stay tabu in coming election camapigns.
It would be a catastrophe for Poland and among all for Polish citizens and their rights, when we would get a specific revision of the traumatic experiences and some media intend to let it happen. Therefore, we should look with a friendly attitude at initiatives from the bottom up that was started by some Facebook users.
The idea founders at Facebook argue the necessity of this action in the following way:
„Because of coming presidential and Parliament elections we declare ourselves against PiS. We remind at traumatic experiences of two years of governing by Lech and Jarosław Kaczyński and we will do everything what we can do that they won’t win these elections again. Our goal: building of a social action (from the bottom to up) and playing a significant role in the Polish internet community. We invite all sincerely to cooperate. Our synergies should work!“
At the same time, this initiative shows Polish politicians, media and spin-doctors from diverse parties in a bad light. They exist so far away from the citizen’s life that they don’t perceive any signs of fears and doubts of an average voter – partially such visions are scarier than creatures from Hollywood movies.
Additionally, the motto sounds like a short, simple and goal-oriented claim, like a shot of a professional killer: “We don’t force you to vote for any party!” It’s a simple conception of young people that said “It’s enough”. PiS and its supporters should not rule Poland. In my opinion, this action is the thing we’ve been waiting for long. There were such initiatives, but a connection between them was missing. There were always many opponents of PiS, but they worked on their own, diffused and uncoordinated.
Therefore, I joined this action with joy and I see how quick it grows at Facebook. (You can become a fan with your real name or with a nickname). The idea founders should get applause.
