Interview a day before the premiere... Rita Beger from team at Scholar Europe talked with Amalia:
Rita Beger (RB): Hallo Amalia, we already talked with you once. It is nice to meet you. Tomorrow, your first book „Lovefool“ will be published. How do you feel about it? Are you already excited?
Amalia: Yes, very much! There are so many thoughts in my head and I am very, very excited. I have a feeling that I will explode any minute! I hope that Mia, Sebastian and Julian will find many new friends. (She hardly can sit still.) I would like to have them all now at my side, in the reality, and I would let their coolness influence me, mostly from Mia and Julian.
RB: You told us already that stories of your grandpa about Warsaw inspired you to. How important is Warsaw in your book?
Amalia: Almost the whole action takes place in Warsaw. I like this city. It is magic and develops very fast. Warsaw is colourful and full of the joys of life. It was important for me. My grandpa was born in Warsaw and he told me how wonderful Warsaw was before the World War II started. This city has a specific atmosphere. After war, it was totally destroyed and Poles had to build up everything from the beginning. Other cities sacrificed them to sent building material to Warsaw. Maybe that is the reason why Warsaw has such a dynamic?
Moreover, other cities, f. a. Wrocław (Breslau) and Berlin, play a role in the first book.
RB: Today, many fantastical stories are from the beginning a concept of more than one book. How is it in your case? What do you want to achieve with your book?
Amalia: My book „Lovefool“ is the first of three parts of a trilogy. We get to know main characters and we discover who they are today and how they act today. In the second book, the background of every main character will be explained even more. In the third part, the final solution will be presented. For the whole time, every one of them rises to a challenge, which we all know from our lives: problems and emotions like love, fear, hope, disappointment, falsifying of the reality because of our perception. Through many occurrences, they learn each other and themselves better.
My goal: to give hope and fun while people read it.
RB: Which actors could, in your opinion, play your main characters?
Amalia: Oh… That’s a hard question. I think it would be unknown actors, young people, who are confident enough to play strong characters. It is surely not easy to play Mia. She isn’t the most beautiful girl, but she has something, which makes you look at her. (After a longer break) Maybe a young Wiona Ryder? Sebastian is liek a young Brad Pitt: he is handsome and well-built, but not too much. Sebastian compares him with Julian quite oft. It is hard to say who looks like better. They are both great beings.
Of course, Julian is a hard case, because he is not a human. Therefore, he lives between people. He tries not to catch attention and it doesn’t work always. Everyone is very friendly and trustworthy.
One of my favourite actors is Johny Depp, but there is no role for him in the first book. But in the second one… (laughing)
RB: Many thanks for the interesting talk. We will be very happy to see you soon at the world's bestseller’s list.
Amalia: I thank you from my whole heart. You don't even know how much it means to me. I start to live my dream!
