Which contributions have I made to Europe?

Tell us what you think. Did your contribution arise out of your own initiative, e.g. by voting in the European elections or perhaps by taking part in a cross-cultural project? Or did you represent your country abroad in such a way that others had to reconsider their prejudices? Or perhaps you know of someone who deserves to be praised?

The first position belongs clearly to Lech Wałęsa for SOLIDARNOSC and for the approval for the Round Table. That was the reason why he became a Polish export label and the whole world was speaking about Poland with respect. He was the first Polish person who got the Nobel Prize for Freedom and for whom the US-American congress gave a standing ovation. As a Polish citizen I am proud of him and I’m lucky that I might to be a witness of it.

Everybody who already took a part actively on any election, like I did. It should be a duty and nobody should be motivated to it. Otherwise Gerhard Schröder for his Agenda 2010. It was a good base to move something politically.

An immortalizing position on this list belongs in my opinion to General Wojciech Jaruzelski. Without his willingness to dialog and to compromise and afterwards his peacefully transfer of power, we would have had an intern war in the heart of Europe. The consciousness of it is shared of an obvious part of our nation and that’s the reason why there’s no despite for the implementation of state of pre-war through General Jaruzelski at 13.12.1981. People with a small ghost and with small size are today against Wałęsa and are taking the Genarl Jaruzelski through the court’s rooms. What a shame! Who and when will be judging the brothers Kaczyński? Here is a place for Michail Gorbatschow too – the Leader of Soviet Union. Without his „Perestroika“, which began in the 80ies in the last century we would as Polish people furthermore dreaming about freedom, the German people would be dreaming about the reunion and the „Iron Curtain“ would be there until now. We as European people should remember it.

I beginn with the holy three: Lech, Czech and Rus. Then I mention Romulus and Remulus. Then some Greeks and some Romans. The Middle Ages are gone in the darkness of the history, in renaissance Leo da Vinci of course. Then are coming even more stars from my own walk of fame. Some more current ones: Helmut Kohl (so that the Germans are happy, I know who it is), Jacek Kuron and the Solidarnosc in the 1980ies edition. From today politician scene I mention Kofi Anan and Barack Obama (not for the politician points of view, but for motivation of the mass – that’s the achievement!) And from the Polish scene? I don’t know. It is easier to find bad heros that the poeple with a willingness of goodness. Everyone is involved in something or politically limited.

The neighbor yells from the kitchen: people with creativity like the project founders and everybody who has something to say. And I’m going to eat. Enjoy your meal!

I don’t yell, I just say it clearly. I think all people who are open-minded and involved in making the reality better deserve a compliment. Even if I don’t agree with every action. And that’s why a dialog is needed and you should do it. And to talk you need two sites which are open-minded for each other. So much about it.
And my personal input in the Europe? I pay my tax, I talk with people from my firm or who I know and I show that the Polish people have sth. down pat.

During my lunch I remembered that I missed one important personality: Teletubbie with the red bag, because thanks to it there began finally a discussion.

The fight with the stereotypes, sometimes looks like the fight with the windmills. Although I don't stop it.

Przemek, I like your attitude very much. I think we should more work on it and so we change our stereotypes. We need although simplifying way of thinking because of the sea of information which foods us in these times.

I was for a year with Socrates-Erasmus program abroad. Once in the south of France, once in the North of France. I presented myself pretty good, because my friends from all over the world are still writing to me. In summer we want to meet ourselves in Paris.

I was a exchange student too, in Italy and in France. It gave much to me, but some stereotypes partially changed and some partially confirmed. Not everything what is known as “typically German” is negative or brings false truth.

Jagiellonian University in Krakow, I think the oldest university in Poland, has 4 student’s hostels. I landed in Zaczek, not so far away from the Old Town. You shouldn’t expect too much: it’s grey, more-floors, long corridors, easy furnished rooms for 2-3 people. The kitchen and bad are often on the corridor. In my case I had to use 3 toilets and 5 shower cabins with almost 30 students. The hygiene greets you!
Then the Polish students mainly don’t speak other languages (no English, no German!) Mainly the lectures are in Polish, so you, as a foreigner, have many problems to understand the content. Polish is so hard to learn!
Why was it worth? Krakow is a mega-great, super-cool and fascinating city and you have to experience it. Maybe it depends on the many students from all over the world or the colorful scene of art and culture, or the Old Market Place with unbelievable atmosphere, or music, artists, the variety of indescribable cellar pubs with traditions or a contrast to the modernity. It is just attractive, inviting and worth to repeat it!

Szacunek, współczucie, smutek, oddanie należnego hołdu Prezydentowi to jedno i z tym chyba zgadzamy się wszyscy lub zdecydowana większość. Ale ta decyzja o Wawelu jest zupełnie nieprzemyślan
